Studio Maignan architect(e)s is a full-service architectural practice focused on modern residential architecture.
The studio’s ethos is grounded in the belief that working with an architect should feel natural and collaborative rather than exclusive: a shared, exploratory process of imagining how a place might be lived in. Each project begins with dialogue - understanding how clients live, what matters most to them, and how their needs may evolve over time - alongside a close reading of the design opportunities inherent in each site.
Designing a house is, in part, the process of giving physical form to these qualities. The architect’s role is to uncover, interpret, and translate individual needs, aspirations, and constraints into seductive spaces that feel natural, deeply functional, and distinctly personal. The goal is not to impose a predetermined style, but to create well thought out, beautiful contemporary spaces that elevate daily life.
By bringing the rituals of living into dialogue with the particularities of a site, the studio creates places that feel as though they could belong nowhere else.
Studio Maignan works closely with clients, consultants, craftspersons and builders from the earliest ideas through to the very end of completion. This continuity allows the design intent established at the outset to remain present in decisions both large and small, ensuring the finished project remains true to the original vision.
Stephanie Maignan brings over 25 years of deep experience leading contemporary residential projects as co-founder of 29 Design (www.29-design.com) in Kuala Lumpur. Her work won numerous awards and was recognized in publications including Architectural Record, Dezeen, and Archdaily. Stephanie led the design and delivery for the Belanda House, featured in the Hollywood film "Crazy Rich Asians" in 2018.
Stephanie graduated with an Architecture degree from Cornell University, and brings experience working at Weiss Manfredi Architects in New York City, and most recently as a Design Principal at B+H Architects in Toronto, where she led the design of mixed-use developments across Canada.
